Our next film in the series is exactly what City Sonic is about: A Toronto artist making history in a legendary music venue. Danko Jones is often under-appreciated in Canada — his loudmouth unabashed rock star attitude just doesn’t seem to fly in our provincial environs — but I remember the night several years ago how he rocked Maple Leaf Gardens opening for Beck like he was the biggest band in the land. More often than not these days he’s on tour in Europe but I knew if we could catch him home long enough we should make a film about that night at the Gardens. We’re delighted that he did too.
